outdoor art drive-in 86
In 1986 Jeanelle Hurst actioned the Outdoor Art Drive-In project as the test run for InterFace 88. Outdoor Art Drive-In and InterFace 88 were designed, developed & co-ordinated by Jeanelle in response to challenges relating to issues of gender, diversity, inequality, regional isolation, cultural dissonance and displacement. In search of solutions, Jeanelle launched a research strategy in 1985 exploring the building blocks of interactivity and connectivity- digital mapping technology, image databases, online bulletin-boards and telecommunications videotex services. Outdoor Art Drive-In 86 and InterFace 88 functioned as prototypes aligning the building blocks of interactivity and connectivity with a public art strategy wherein the interface of local and global communities could be envisioned.
