Intro

A call went out in September 2020, about 8 months into COVID, inviting artists to respond to the Small Stuff in a Big World project by making art in or out of a matchbox.

Matchbox artworks were sent to Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, for a one-week pop-up exhibition, photographed and uploaded to Instagram / Art Stuff Art Platform for permanent display.

In a world of lockdowns, mind-bending realities, diminishing options, and social isolation, matchbox-scale art that could be packaged and mailed seemed to be a viable strategy for creating and connecting.

Many thanks to the artists who created beautiful, evocative, and whimsical works for a strange time in space.
